Charitable Gift Annuities

A charitable gift annuity is a simple contract between you and the Diocese of Helena. In exchange for your irrevocable gift of cash or securities, the Diocese of Helena agrees to pay you fixed income payments for life — income to supplement Social Security or a Retirement plan — additional money which you can use in any way you wish. The payments are guaranteed by the general resources of the Diocese of Helena.

The older you are at the time of the gift, the greater the fixed income the Diocese of Helena can agree to pay. Payments can also be deferred, and the longer payments are deferred and depending on your age, the greater the fixed income the Diocese of Helena can agree to pay. Payments are usually made in annual, semiannual, or quarterly installments.

There are also tax benefits available with gift annuities, in addition to the income that you can enjoy for making such a gift. In addition to the federal charitable tax deduction, the State of Montana offers a 40 percent income tax credit to those individuals who use a planned gift such as an annuity to support qualified permanent endowments in Montana. There is the equally important assurance that your investment, after it has served you and, if so named, a loved one, will then continue to support the mission of the Church within our Diocese in perpetuity.
