How to Word a Bequest to the Church
Suggested Wording for a Bequest to The Foundation for the Diocese of Helena, Inc. or The Roman Catholic Bishop of Helena, a Montana corporation sole:
1. A BEQUEST FOR GENERAL PURPOSES:
"I give $______ or (____% of my disposable estate) to The Foundation for the Diocese of Helena, Inc. or The Roman Catholic Bishop of Helena, a Montana corporation sole"
2. A BEQUEST FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE:
Initial wording as above, with words describing the purpose or area of work toward which the bequest is to be used. For example:
"...to be used for permanent endowment of:..."
- seminarian education and priestly formation
- apostolic mission to feed and clothe the poor
- my parish
3. A RESIDUARY BENEFIT OF INDEFINITE AMOUNT:
After payment of expenses, debts and specific bequests, I direct that the residue of my estate is to be distributed in this manner: (use wording as in 1 and 2 above).
4. A CONTINGENT SPECIFIC BEQUEST:
"I bequeath to The Foundation for the Diocese of Helena, Inc. any part of my estate that other beneficiaries are unable to receive because of death or other reasons."
5. A CONTINGENT BEQUEST IN THE EVENT OF COMMON DISASTER BEFALLING THE ENTIRE FAMILY:
Stipulate that in the event of such circumstances, all or part of your estate is to be given to The Foundation for the Diocese of Helena, Inc.
